3 | Indice di PREN | Corrosion resistance index The ability of stainless steel grades to resist pitting corrosion is expressed by a numeric indicator called PREN (Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number). PREN can be calculated using a mathematical formula, which uses mass-percentage of selected chemical elements found in stainless steel grades as input variables. PREN(Austenitic)=%Cr+3.3(%Mo)+16(%N) – PREN(Ferritic)=%Cr+3.3(%Mo) |

ADVANCED SOLUTIONS FOR THE BEST PERFORMANCES
Our product range for the industrial field includes austenitic ferritic, and martensitic hot-rolled and cold-rolled stainless steel, supplied in various sizes and finishes mainly 1, 2E, 2D and 2B for tube-makers, and 2B and BA for re-rollers).
Working for innovation means always improving on yourself – and we certainly know how to do that. Every day, our engineers and researchers work in team to guarantee our clients excellent product performances and maximum technical assistance.
Therefore, the traditional grades used by tube-makers, re-rollers and other manufacturers in the industrial field are constantly improved in terms of quality, chemical and mechanical features and tolerance. Acciai Speciali Terni also offers stainless steel grades dedicated to precision re-rollers, meeting the demand for ductility, workability and minimum thickness required in their field: superaustenitic 904L, austenitic 301NR and martensitic 420A.
